Academy Adjusts 97th Oscars Schedule Due to Los Angeles Fires
The Oscars Nominations Announcement has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 23, at 5:30 a.m. PT. This live announcement will be a virtual event without in-person media coverage.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced updates to the key dates and schedule of events for the 97th Oscars due to the impact of the Los Angeles-area fires. The Academy has also canceled its annual luncheon, originally scheduled for February 10.
According to the Academy's statement, the Oscars nominations voting period has been extended through Friday, January 17, at 5 p.m. PT. The Oscars Nominations Announcement has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 23, at 5:30 a.m. PT. This live announcement will be a virtual event without in-person media coverage.
Additionally, the Scientific and Technical Awards, initially scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, will be postponed to a later date, which has yet to be determined.
“We are all devastated by the impact of the fires and the profound losses experienced by so many in our community. The Academy has always been a unifying force within the film industry, and we are committed to standing together in the face of hardship,” the academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang aid in a statement.

The 97th Oscars will still be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be televised live at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on ABC, streamed live on Hulu and air live in more than 200 territories worldwide.
